REMINDER! NaNoWriMo Starts November 1!
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a national (worldwide?) creative-writing project designed to empower and inspire creativity among aspiring writers. During the month, participants are challenged to write at least 50,000 words of a novel within the 30 days of November.
I’m sure lots are thinking “wow, 50,000 words are a lot!” Yes, they are. And the task is definitely obtainable. (I completed my first NaNoWriMo successfully while also moving cross-country to start a new job — let’s just say it was a very busy month!)
Grant Faulkner, executive director of NaNoWriMo, says the project “ignites people’s superheroic creative powers every year by empowering them to write their stories. It takes courage, grit, resilience-and wild imaginative leaps-to write 50,000 words of a novel in a month. Our stories save us from villainous forces that we encounter every day. Our stories determine the future of our world.”
The program is free and open to all. If you’re interested in participating, head over to NaNoWriMo’s website and sign up. There’s excellent tools and communities to help you write that novel that’s inside of you.
